Payment Services Directive2 (PSD2) is a new EU payment directive for cashless purchases and online bookings. This two-stage verification has been providing greater security for payments on online platforms since 14 September 2020.

This means that when booking on online platforms, you must also provide a second security factor in addition to a password. Your credit card company decides whether and in what form this double authentication takes place. It would be possible, for example, to request a password or PIN code and an additional verification by fingerprint on the smartphone.
