When you collect or return your rental car, you will usually be given a handover report.
The condition of the rented vehicle is noted there when it is handed over or returned.
The following items are usually documented:
Basic rental details such as the rental agreement number, the vehicle type and registration number, as well as the name of the driver
Rental and drop-off location with associated pick-up and
drop-off date
Kilometreand fuel level at pick-up and return
Existing damage (sometimes there is a vehicle graphic in the report on which the rental company marks the relevant damage)
Equipment of the rented car: this includes not only the vehicle documents but also the inventory, such as a navigation device, the warning triangle or the first-aid kit.
