With almost every rental car booking, you have the choice between fully comprehensive insurance with or without excess.
A booking without excess is often a little more expensive, but you will not incur any costs in most cases of damage.
Fully comprehensive insurance for the rental car is compulsory. With some offers, however, you have the choice between comprehensive insurance with or without excess.
- "Without excess" specifically means "reimbursement of the excess". Even if you have booked an offer without excess, you will still have to leave a deposit on site. This is initially held by the rental company in the event of damage, as in the case of "rental car with excess". However, after your holiday return, you will be reimbursed the amount by the operator in accordance with the respective GT&C. Reimbursement is often somewhat delayed and can take several months in some cases.
- "With excess" means that you have to pay an excess in the event of a claim. The amount is usually in the rental conditions. The own contribution varies from rental company to rental company. Therefore, be sure to take a look at the rental conditions and ask our customer service in case of doubt.
