Many rental companies generally have the option to pick up the rental car outside opening hours.

The following applies in general: If you wish to collect a rental vehicle outside your provider's standard opening hours, you must first request this service in your booking. In the event of confirmation, an "out-of-hours service" charge is usually payable – both in Germany and in other countries.

When you pick up the rental car a member of the service staff will be waiting for you at the location to complete the handover report with you. You also pay this member of staff the service fee. The costs for this service vary depending on where you want to pick up your rental car and which rental company you have.

Only where a service employee is also waiting for you is an additional fee justified! Depending on the provider, this not only varies in terms of amount, but is also linked to appropriate conditions, such as providing details of a flight number and phone number – always let the rental company know in advance and find out exactly how the pick-up will take place.
