The rental car handover report is not a mandatory document. Many rental companies therefore do not offer this document. This is because the most important points concerning the rental are already recorded in the rental agreement and are therefore usually sufficiently documented.

However, especially if your rental car already has old damage of a minor nature or you want to be on the safe side when you return it, such a report can be quite useful.

If the rental company does not offer you a form, you can still insist on documenting the condition of the vehicle and produce a handwritten report. However, it is essential to have this signed by the provider – only then are you on the safe side.
